Important news about HRM Software

2023. Workday unveils new HR-focused generative AI features

In a move that’s either the dawn of a more enlightened corporate universe or the opening act of a bureaucratic nightmare, Workday, that esteemed vendor of enterprise management wizardry, has revealed a slew of new generative AI features designed to make business operations less dreary and possibly more productive—assuming, of course, that’s your sort of thing. Among the lineup is a feature that can automatically compare signed contracts to those buried in the system, ferreting out inconsistencies with the tenacity of a particularly diligent hyperspace customs agent. In addition, the platform will now fancy itself as an author of custom knowledge articles and an arranger of statements of work for service procurement. All of this seems rather useful—perhaps even delightful—until you get to the feature that gives this hapless reporter pause: AI-generated employee work plans. Yes, this will let managers conjure up instant summaries of an employee's strengths and areas for improvement, drawing from a swirling sea of data, including performance reviews, feedback, goals, skills and that enigmatic entity known as “employee sentiment.” If that doesn’t sound like the setup for a satirical novel, I’m not sure what does.

2022. Humaans raises $15M to simplify HR tasks like onboarding

Humaans, an HR tech startup, allows organizations to create a customizable HR stack that handles employee documents, information, payroll, contracts and other aspects of people operations. Humaans is built to capture employee details by storing personal and company documents (e.g., identification, emergency contacts and basic profiles), supposedly making it simpler to identify missing data points. The platform tracks items such as probation periods, which employees are joining or departing, as well as birthdays, work anniversaries, expiring IDs and time off and vacation hours. Additionally, Humaans can display headcount changes by department, tenure, salary expenditures and trends like when employees usually take PTO.

2022. HR service for digital nomads Benivo raises $12M

Benivo, a B2B SaaS HR platform solution for mobile or relocating workforces, has raised $12 million. Benivo has successfully acquired clients including Google, Mondelez, General Electric, Phillips 66, Unity, Wayfair, CGI, Bloomberg and about 50 others. The so-called “global mobility” market is quite extensive, but many processes remain manual and often require the use of multiple platforms by employees or their companies. Benivo’s proposition is that it leverages AI to automate and predictive analytics to assist those in HR who need to relocate staff or track their movements.

2022. Workday turns more modern and personalized with new interface makeover

Workday, which provides a range of services to assist companies in managing personnel and finances, has announced a redesign of its interface across the entire product line in an effort to modernize and simplify it for everyone, from frontline workers to managers to IT staff. The update delivers an experience tailored to job roles, rather than using a one-size-fits-all interface. It not only simplifies tasks for users but also allows companies to extend the platform for various customizations. An example of how Workday has integrated with other systems, even before this update, is its connection with Slack. Instead of submitting a time-off request in the Workday application, an employee can make the request in Slack and it is automatically routed to a manager in Slack, who can quickly approve it.

2022. 15Five, a pioneer in talent management HR tech, raises $52M

15Five — an early pioneer in developing technology to motivate teams and enhance performance management for leaders overseeing those teams — has secured $52 million. It is now utilized by approximately 3,400 companies, with notable clients including Credit Karma, Spotify and Pendo, focusing particularly on businesses with 100 to 2,500 employees. 15Five positions itself not only as a provider of insights but also as a catalyst for outcomes, driving a broader expansion into areas like coaching and training to enhance a platform currently used for tracking and setting goals for teams and individuals. Although many enterprise software companies address HR, training and performance management challenges, 15Five stands out by integrating these aspects and prioritizing performance management.

2022. Gloat nabs $90M to build AI-powered internal jobs marketplaces

Gloat, an internal marketplace for corporate talent, today announced that it secured $90 million in a Series D round. The range of employee recruitment, acquisition and job board platforms is nearly limitless — consider Workday, LinkedIn and SAP SuccessFactors as examples. However, Gloat stands out because it began by providing a solution for internal mobility. Throughout the industry, there are numerous recruiting tools to source external candidates, but internal mobility presents distinct and nuanced difficulties. It necessitates a genuine comprehension of transferable skills and job titles that may not be apparent without the profound, organization- and industry-specific knowledge that Gloat’s technology was designed to deliver.

2022. Personio nabs $200M for its small businesses HRM

Personio — a startup that positions itself as a Workday and ServiceNow centered on small and medium enterprises, has secured another $200M. Personio’s core concept is that its software is designed specifically for SMBs and how they are most likely to utilize software, with options for self-service integration and no need to have dedicated staff to support it. It initially gained recognition with its compact suite of recruiting, onboarding and basic HR management tools. But as SMBs have expanded their IT aspirations, so has Personio. The company has incorporated third-party app integrations (which now total 100) and last year, the company began to venture into workflow automation to facilitate task management, approval processes, electronic signatures and other productivity tools.

2022. Finch raises $15M to build an API for HR systems

Finch, which develops APIs to connect corporate payroll, HR and benefits systems, has secured $15 million in Series A funding. Finch positions itself as an API for employment systems. The platform serves as a connectivity layer for over 150 employment systems, allowing applications and services such as Gusto, Justworks, Zenefits and ADP to access employment data stored in disparate systems. Finch also provides specialized services like Finch Benefits, which is designed to streamline the process of creating benefits plans, enrolling employees in benefits and managing benefits deduction and contribution updates. When an employee adjusts their contributions in a benefits app, Finch Benefits automatically updates it in the appropriate tax category on their paycheck.

2022. Frontline worker HR platform Snapshift raises $45M

France-based Snapshift, which began as a staff management solution for restaurants and has now reinvented itself as a platform for managing the so-called “deskless workforce,” is raising $45 million in Series A. Snapshift's goal is to assist SMEs in understanding and optimizing all aspects of human resources by streamlining payroll management, staff scheduling and providing guidance on complexities like constantly evolving social and employment laws. Snapshift’s offering allows customers to update their management systems, foster trust and transparency and enhance their reputation as ‘great places to work’ for employees.

2022. HR automation platform flex raises $32M

South Korea-based human resources management platform flex announced today it has secured a $32 million Series B funding round. The startup’s goal is to help companies automate and simplify manual human resources workflows, allowing them to focus more on their employees. Its automation tools enhance the employee experience by ensuring smooth data flow across departments for tasks such as payroll, e-signature support, onboarding/offboarding and people analytics. The company also intends to introduce performance review and talent relationship management tools in the first quarter of 2022.
