TouchBistro
iPad POS solution that helps restaurateurs make more money, deliver a great customer experience, and take the guess work out of making business decisions. TouchBistro was designed to make managing your business easier, so you can focus on why you opened your restaurant in the first place.
Running a restaurant is a bit like piloting a spaceship—things go wrong at lightspeed and you need a system that won’t explode when someone orders an oat milk latte with a side of existential crisis. Enter Lightspeed and TouchBistro, two cloud-based restaurant POS systems designed to keep your ship afloat. Both let you manage tables, customize menus and generate reports so you can pretend you have everything under control. They also integrate with third-party apps, which is useful when you realize you have absolutely no idea how accounting works. And yes, both run on iPads, because apparently, the future of food service involves a lot of touchscreen tapping.

Lightspeed, as the name suggests, was originally launched in 2005 to help retailers move transactions faster than the speed of common sense. Eventually, they decided that restaurants could also benefit from this approach, so they expanded into hospitality. It’s great for large chains and franchises, includes eCommerce features (because why wouldn’t you want to sell branded t-shirts alongside your burgers?) and offers enough analytics to make your head spin. It’s also Canadian, which means it’s probably polite even when your kitchen is on fire.

TouchBistro, on the other hand, has been all about restaurants since 2011, also hailing from the land of maple syrup and universal healthcare. Unlike its intergalactic counterpart, it’s built for small and medium-sized eateries, including food trucks that somehow exist in the space-time continuum despite never being where you expect them to be. It works offline, so your system doesn’t collapse when the Wi-Fi does and it includes built-in staff management tools, just in case your employees forget their own names during the dinner rush. Most importantly, it specializes in tableside ordering, ensuring that customers get their food before they change their minds and leave to pursue a life of solitude in the mountains.
