Jive and Nextiva are both cloud-based VoIP services, which, in the grand scheme of things, means they allow people to talk to each other without the use of tin cans and string. They offer unlimited calling in the U.S., mobile and desktop apps for those who like their phones but wish they weren’t phones and a collection of features like voicemail-to-email, auto-attendants and CRM integrations, all of which sound terribly important if you’re the sort of person who enjoys saying "synergy" in meetings. Fundamentally, they both exist to ensure that businesses continue to communicate, even when their employees would rather not.
Jive, which was founded in 2006 in the United States, is now part of the vast and mysterious entity known as GoTo, which sounds rather like an instruction but is actually a company. It aims its services at small to mid-sized businesses, providing them with VoIP, remote work tools and the comforting illusion that their communications are seamlessly integrated. It fancies itself not just a VoIP provider but a full-fledged "unified communications" platform, with built-in video conferencing, AI-driven automation and customer sentiment analysis—because nothing says progress like an algorithm quietly judging your tone of voice. It offers NextivaONE, an all-in-one workspace that presumably does everything short of making coffee, though that’s probably on the roadmap.
