Feedly
Feedly is RSS news aggregator application for various Web browsers and mobile devices running iOS and Android, also available as a cloud-based service. It compiles news feeds from a variety of online sources for the user to customize and share with others.

Netvibes
Netvibes is the all-in-one dashboard intelligence platform for real-time social media monitoring, social analytics, brand sentiment, reputation management, news aggregation, data analytics and real-time intelligence. Analyze all your social+enterprise data. Keep your team on track with real-time alerts, colorful visualizations and automated reporting.

Feedly and Netvibes are, at their core, highly sophisticated ways of staring at vast amounts of information without necessarily absorbing any of it. They both allow humans—those peculiar creatures obsessed with knowing things—to track news, blogs and other online noise in one place. They are accessible from anywhere, which is handy if you have an existential crisis in a coffee shop and need to confirm that the world is still a mess. Both have free versions for the frugal, premium versions for the paranoid and integrations with other apps so you can pretend to be productive while endlessly curating your feeds.

Feedly, born in 2008 in the far-off land of the United States, is the sleeker, more streamlined of the two. It is aimed at individuals, professionals and people who think they are professionals but mostly just hoard articles they'll never read. It has an AI assistant named Leo who promises to filter out the nonsense, though whether it can truly escape the gravitational pull of the internet’s nonsense remains debatable. It connects with tools like Trello and Evernote, ensuring that your well-organized lists of unread content remain well-organized and unread.

Netvibes, hailing from France since 2005 (which, in internet years, makes it practically prehistoric), has grander ambitions. It doesn’t just collect news; it aspires to track all digital existence, from social media chatter to stock prices to the temperature of your tea, probably. It caters to businesses, agencies and other entities that enjoy staring at dashboards filled with important-looking numbers. It also features “Potions,” a charmingly mystical name for its automation system, which allows users to set up complex workflows to react to news updates—because if there's one thing better than drowning in information, it's making sure that information automatically does something baffling in response.
