They integrate with other productivity tools, making them look as though they’re seamlessly part of a grand, well-thought-out plan rather than a chaotic mess of tabs and apps that everyone juggles daily.

Dropbox, hailing from the grand old tech land of the USA since 2007, has had plenty of time to refine its ways. It syncs files at lightning speed, slicing them into digital bits and pieces so that only the changed parts are updated, rather like a postal service that delivers letters one word at a time. It caters to everyone, from lone wolves hoarding terabytes of memes to vast corporate overlords managing digital empires. It even has a thing called Smart Sync, which sounds clever and, in fairness, is—allowing users to pretend their files are local while actually living comfortably in the cloud.

Zoho WorkDrive, the newer and more team-spirited contender from India, arrived in 2019 with a clear mission: to make collaboration less of a soul-draining experience. Unlike Dropbox, which tries to please both hermits and organizations, Zoho WorkDrive is unapologetically business-focused. It offers built-in access to Zoho’s own suite of office tools, meaning you can write, calculate and present without ever leaving its embrace—assuming you trust it that much. It also tends to be cheaper, making it a perfect option for businesses that like their storage spacious but their budgets tight.
