In addition to our built-in segmentation and targeting options, you can automate triggered emails based on your subscribers' website activity.
Benchmark Email and MailChimp are, in many ways, the same thing. They both allow businesses to send emails to people who may or may not want them, using templates and fancy buttons. They offer A/B testing so you can scientifically determine that the subject line "OPEN THIS OR ELSE" is, in fact, slightly less effective than "A Little Gift Inside!" They integrate seamlessly with CRMs, e-commerce platforms and probably your fridge if you look hard enough. Both provide free plans, because nothing hooks a customer quite like the promise of something free that will later require money. And, of course, they let you segment your audience, because one should always know precisely which subset of their customers is most likely to appreciate cat memes.

Benchmark Email, for its part, was founded in 2004 in the United States, which, in the grand cosmic scheme of things, makes it a mere toddler compared to MailChimp. It prides itself on being exceptionally simple, so that even those who think "drag-and-drop" is some sort of extreme sport can use it with ease. It also comes in multiple languages, presumably to confuse you in a variety of linguistic styles. Unlike its rival, it places a heavy emphasis on making sure your emails actually arrive where they’re supposed to, rather than drifting into the void of spam filters and forgotten inboxes. And, rather charmingly, it lets you build surveys directly into emails, ensuring that your recipients can tell you exactly how much they hate receiving surveys in emails.

MailChimp, meanwhile, is the elder statesman, born in 2001 and also hailing from the USA, though it has since evolved into something more akin to a marketing behemoth. Originally meant for small businesses, it now stretches its metaphorical tentacles toward large enterprises as well, offering AI-driven insights that can predict things you didn’t even know needed predicting. It has expanded beyond emails into social media, landing pages and possibly world domination, though that part is still in beta. Unlike its rival, it was gobbled up by Intuit in 2021, meaning that it is now technically related to your taxes. It is, in short, everything you could ever want in an email marketing platform—unless, of course, you wanted something simple.
