Basecamp
Basecamp tackles project management with a focus on communication and collaboration. Making to-do lists and adding to-do items literally just takes seconds. Basecamp is optimized to make the things you do most often really fast and really easy. Basecamp mobile is especially made for popular mobile devices like iPhone and Android.

Zoho Projects
Zoho Projects is an online project management software with collaboration and bug tracking that allows project teams to collaborate and get work done faster. Planning and Tracking helps you keep your project on schedule. Collaboration helps improve the communication within the team. And the Bug Tracking module allows you to track the bugs that software projects are bound to generate and fix all bugs in time.

Basecamp and Zoho Projects, at first glance, seem to be the same sort of thing: digital workspaces where people shuffle tasks around, assign duties with the kind of enthusiasm usually reserved for dental appointments and occasionally pretend to collaborate. Both allow users to chat, share files and keep track of things that were supposed to be finished last Thursday. They also have mobile apps, because, in this modern age, it is crucial to be reminded of looming deadlines while pretending to enjoy a holiday.

Basecamp, hailing from the distant and mysterious lands of 2004 America, prides itself on simplicity. It is a project management tool in the same way a whiteboard and a marker are—you can write things down, discuss them and wipe them away when you’ve forgotten why you wrote them in the first place. Unlike its competitors, it charges a flat fee, making it a rare software that does not attempt to nickel-and-dime its users into an existential crisis. However, it lacks built-in time tracking, which is perhaps a statement on the futility of measuring time in a universe where procrastination is inevitable.

Zoho Projects, meanwhile, was born in 2006 India and immediately set about being much more structured, which is a bit like saying a spreadsheet is more structured than a napkin doodle. It has everything from Gantt charts to task dependencies, which means that if you ever wanted to feel like a real project manager, staring at a screen with multiple interconnected lines, this is the tool for you. It even includes built-in time tracking, which means that while Basecamp assumes time is a human illusion, Zoho prefers to measure just how much of it you’ve lost.
