Alexa lets you be more productive throughout your day and stay focused on important tasks. Alexa can help you manage your schedule, keep track of your to-do list, and set reminders. Alexa can automatically dial into your conference calls and make phone calls for you. Alexa can help quickly find information for you, like the latest sales data, or the inventory levels in your warehouse.

Talk to Siri as you would to a friend and it can help you get things done — like sending messages, placing calls, or making dinner reservations. You can ask Siri to show you the Orion constellation or to flip a coin. Siri works hands-free, so you can ask it to show you the best route home and what your ETA is while driving. And it’s connected to the world, working with Wikipedia, Yelp, Rotten Tomatoes, Shazam, and other online services to get you even more answers. The more you use Siri, the more you’ll realize how great it is. And just how much it can do for you.
Imagine, if you will, two entities—one called Amazon Alexa, the other, Siri—engaged in a polite but perpetual rivalry to answer your every whim. They both listen attentively, never interrupt and provide weather updates as if your very survival depended on knowing whether it might drizzle. They can dim your lights, remind you about Aunt Mildred’s birthday and even guide you to the nearest coffee shop, though neither will admit how often they roll their eyes metaphorically while doing so.
Alexa, hailing from the land of infinite shipping warehouses (the USA), has been whispering helpful suggestions into your life since 2014, though her true calling is in managing smart homes and encouraging you to buy things you didn’t know you needed. Her skills system makes her endlessly customizable, provided you don’t mind teaching her a new trick or two and she’s on a first-name basis with nearly every device you could plug into a socket. She’s less a voice assistant and more an overly helpful flatmate who rearranges your life while you’re not looking.
Siri, on the other hand, first graced us with her presence in 2011, descending from Norway like a Norse goddess of productivity. She’s exclusively devoted to Apple, her true love and spends her days deftly managing texts, emails and calendar events as if she were born for it—which, in a way, she was. Unlike Alexa, she doesn’t mingle much with outsiders, preferring the cozy confines of Apple’s ecosystem. She’s also more discreet, whispering secrets only to your device, rather than broadcasting them to the cloud for everyone to overhear.
