Adobe Sign and Zoho Sign are two perfectly respectable pieces of software that allow people to electronically sign documents without ever having to encounter the horror of a physical pen. They both comply with legal requirements, integrate with other workplace tools and generally make it look like you’re doing something incredibly important when, in reality, you’re just clicking “Approve” for the fifth time this morning. Both offer automation, mobile access and security features, because if they didn’t, no one would trust them to do anything more serious than ordering a pizza.

Adobe Sign, being the older and more distinguished of the two (having first appeared in 2006 under the much less exciting name EchoSign), is designed for big enterprises that like their contracts airtight and their budgets slightly more empty. It cozies up nicely with Adobe’s other products, particularly Acrobat and even has some AI wizardry thrown in for good measure. It’s the sort of thing large corporations adore—because nothing says "corporate efficiency" quite like an expensive software suite that can automatically detect whether you’ve signed in the wrong place.

Zoho Sign, on the other hand, is the scrappy upstart, having arrived in 2017 with a mission to make signing things less of a hassle, especially for smaller businesses and Zoho users who live in a self-contained Zoho ecosystem. It’s cheaper, integrates beautifully with Zoho’s own suite of tools and even throws in blockchain-based security for those who like their contracts wrapped in the same technology as cryptocurrency. Being a product of Zoho Corporation, an Indian company that loves efficiency almost as much as it loves offering software at competitive prices, it manages to provide all the essentials without requiring you to mortgage your office furniture.
