Acquia
A Unified Platform for Content, Community and Commerce. Acquia's open cloud platform delivers scalability, security, and high performance for your Drupal sites. Acquia Cloud is the only solution that helps everyone from professional developers to large enterprises achieve success in Drupal application lifecycle management.

Jive
Jive’s enterprise social networking platform allows you to engage employees, customers, and the social web. Increase the efficiency of internal communication, build brand loyalty, and monitor customer chatter and ideas, all from one central location. Say good bye to your intranet, multiple logins for scattered enterprise apps, and being out of the loop; the Jive Engage platform integrates the social networking tools you love and need so you can focus on what matters.

Acquia and Jive are, in many ways, eerily similar in the way that all sufficiently complex enterprise software eventually starts to look the same to anyone who isn’t being paid to care. They both live in the cloud, which means nobody is quite sure where they actually are, but they’re always there when you need them (except, of course, when they’re not). Both promise to revolutionize digital experiences, streamline communication and generally make life better, though whether that’s for the users or just the salespeople is open to interpretation. They integrate with all the important business tools, which is another way of saying that they connect to everything you were already struggling to keep up with.

Acquia, being a refined sort of beast, was built for the noble pursuit of managing content with the majestic power of Drupal, which, like an ancient rune-covered artifact, is revered by many and feared by more. Born in the United States in 2007, it has spent its time making marketers happy by offering personalization, customer journey maps and other delightful ways to make sure people see exactly the kind of content they were hoping to avoid. It is open-source, which means that, in theory, anyone can contribute to making it better and in practice, that usually means a lot of very clever people having heated debates on forums.

Jive, on the other hand, is an older, wiser and slightly more cynical entity, having emerged in 2001 with a mission to solve workplace communication, a task widely considered more difficult than proving time travel. It does this with social networking, forums and a determination to make email a thing of the past, though email remains stubbornly unextinct. Large companies love it because it makes employees feel like they are part of something bigger, even if that something bigger is just an endless scroll of corporate announcements. While Acquia courts customers, Jive wrangles employees and somewhere in the vast, digital cosmos, both systems hum along, doing their very best to keep chaos at bay.
