Aconex and Viewpoint are both cloud-based construction management tools, which is a fancy way of saying they exist to make sure buildings don’t collapse due to misplaced spreadsheets. They both handle documents, let people collaborate without resorting to email feuds and generally try to keep construction projects from spiraling into chaos. If a contractor sneezes in one part of the system, both ensure that everyone else at least gets a polite notification instead of being left wondering why there’s suddenly a 30-story hole where an office block was supposed to be.

With its love for ERP, job costing and payroll, Viewpoint ensures that while workers are busy pouring concrete, someone else is meticulously tracking how much of it they’ve used, how much it costs and how much they can still afford before the whole project turns into a glorified sandcastle.
